Bank rate is the rate at which RBI lends loans to
commercial banks. It is also lender of last resort.
When a bank faces financial crisis due failure in policy
structure or violating the rules, then RBI charges the
commercial bank a penalty along with the rate of interest.
Such rate is Bank rate
