Question { 5157 }

diff bw range and span?

Answer

Suppose Transmiter is calibrated at -100 to + 100.
Determining it's LRV =. -100     And.    URV. =. +100

Thus in above case :

Range is -100 to + 100
Span is 200

Because,
Span is the gap between LRV  and  URV
That'swhy (+100) - (-100) = 200 become a Span

Can be operate control valve without positioning if yes ?
how and why?

Answer

Without positioner control valve will become on off valve because position feedback dose not transist.

If control valves are able to operate within 3 - 15 psi, that case can possible though I/p converter .

Question { Reliance, 9327 }

what is ZERO SUPPRESION and ZERO ELEVATION?

Answer

Zero suppression: when a static head transmitter is installed below the zero liquid level, the transmitter gets a +ve error in the level measurement. This error is corrected  by a zero suppression method.

Zero elevation: when a static head transmitter is installed above the zero liquid level, the transmitter gets a –ve error in the level measurement. The error is corrected by a zero elevation method.

Question { 6286 }

what is beta ratio?

Answer

Beta Ratio is the Ratio between the line inner diameter to bore size of the orifice.

Orifice dia / pipe dia

The flow coefficient is founds to be stable between beta ratio of 0.2 to 0.7 below which the uncertainity in flow measurement increases.

Question { icl, 5195 }

Guy's need your support,I want to measure closed tank level which is under vacuum -630mmHg using DP Transmitter, tank fluid density 1.38, Tank height is 7ft

Answer

In such case vaccume will apply in both lags  equally .
Now hight is 7 ft and density 1.38

7 ft is equal to 84 inches

So ,
84 X 1.38 = 115.92 inches of H2O became our span.

1 inches of H2O = 1.87 mmHg

Thus,
115.92 inches H2O = 216mmHg

tank is closed thats why ,

LRV  =    - 216 mmHg
URV =      0 mmHg
