What is difference between shadow copy and backup?
Answer / @loke
Shadow copy is a kind of backup technology in which the
files and folders are automatically backed up by windows as
per the settings of the administrator on a reserved
location which has been identifed by the admin on the same
storage device. the default number of copies which can be
held is 64. this service needs to be enabled to start the
shadow copy backup. it has been introduced with windows
2003 server+ os. A shadow copy backup takes the backup of
thos files also which are currently being written to. it
just saves a snapshot of the current file system.
Backup mostly is done after the production hours. It is
carried on both locally and remotely. backup is taken on
san, nas, tape drives, physical hard drives etc. and the
backup is scheduled.
