Why is space not freed up when I issue drop table?
Answer / Pramod Kumar Kanoujiya
"In Apache Impala, when a table is dropped, the physical files associated with that table are not immediately deleted. Instead, they're marked for deletion and will be cleaned up during future maintenance operations such as compactions or garbage collections. This behavior helps to prevent data loss in case of accidental drops and also optimizes resource usage."
