A. water, but in which water does not enter the pipes until
a fire has been detected.

Answer: A

The dry-pipe sprinkler is an effective and environmentally
friendly method of suppressing fire. Water sprinklers, with
an automatic power shutoff system, can be set to automatic
release without threat to life. Sprinklers must be dry-pipe
to prevent the risk of leakage. Halon or carbon dioxide also
are used to extinguish fire, but are not used through a dry
pipe.
