Sewage water contain various compounds like
1.organic compound
2.Nitrogen and phosphorous
3.suspended solids and many more
The organic compound such as protein, carbohydrate, fats
are responsible for the pungent smelling from the sewage
water.when protein and fats starts to decay in the open
environment,that inturn cause pungent odour.
