What is the difference between voltage transformer and
potential transformer?
Answer Posted / biswanath das
Voltage transformer is used for protection of high voltage
distribution transformer. It Compare the primary and
secondary voltage ratio of a transformer and to maintain
fixed voltage at secondary terminal, it sense to auto tap
changer of the transformer to maintain fixed voltage during
no load to full load.
Potential transformer is used for measuring heigh voltage.
It's Primery windings is connected to the high voltage
source & secondary voltage is only 110 volts
