Stress is nothing but internal resistive force to
deformation per unit cross sectional area. It is always
perpendicular to the surface.
Pressure is Force per unit area. It is always parallel to
the surface.

1) Any pipe line working fluid may water / steam on it one manual isolation valve suppose one side of valve 6 kg/ cm^2 pressure (i.e. up stream) and other side is “ 0” kg/ cm^2 pressure(i.e. down stream) .
