How does splunk determine 1 day, from a licensing perspective?

From a licensing perspective, Splunk considers one day as starting at the moment when an event is ingested. For example, if an event is ingested at 23:59:59 on a given day and another event is ingested at 00:00:01 of the following day, Splunk will count these events towards two separate days.
