How can the background be unlocked in photoshop?

To unlock the background in Photoshop, you need to enable the "Layers" palette if it's not already visible. Then, double-click on the lock icon next to the layer containing your content (not the background). This will open a dialog box where you can uncheck the "Lock Background Layer" option. Press OK to save changes.
