MongoDB uses flexible, JSON-like documents as the basic unit of storage. There isn't a predefined schema, and you can store different fields in each document, making it suitable for NoSQL and semi-structured data. However, MongoDB does have built-in data models like:
1. Document: A collection of key-value pairs. Each document is stored as a BSON object.
2. Array: An ordered list of elements, which can be documents, other arrays, or other data types.
3. Embedded Document: A document that contains references to other documents.
4. Reference: A way to store the reference of one document in another document.
5. Database: A collection of related documents. Multiple databases can exist within a single MongoDB instance.
