Although encryption for data stored in AWS S3 is not mandatory, it is highly recommended for security and compliance reasons. AWS offers several encryption options for S3 buckets: server-side encryption (SSE) using AWS-managed encryption keys or customer-managed keys, client-side encryption with customer-provided keys, or encryption with hardware acceleration (SSE-C).
