RDBMS (Relational Database Management System) like MySQL and PostgreSQL are tabular data models designed for structured data, providing ACID properties. HBase, on the other hand, is a distributed, scalable, NoSQL database built on top of HDFS that provides Bigtable-like functionality, optimized for large datasets with sparse schemas and column-oriented storage.
