What is the difference between Smoke Testing & Sanity
Testing?
Answer Posted / kalyan
I think what Pavan said is right,
Sanity Testing: This is conducted to ensure the stability
of the application build. This test is performed for the
testing team to decide whether to continue full testing or
not. If the team finds bugs in this round itself, they
would reject the build for new release. For doing Sanity
testing, you may or may not have predefined test cases
Smoke Testing: This is conducted, when there is an urgent
fix or immedeate release and testing team doesn't has time
to execute all the test cases. Basically It depends whether
we can have predefined test cases for both or smoke testing
alone
