List in data structures refers to a collection of items stored in a sequential manner, allowing multiple entries for each item. The common types of lists are Array List, Linked List, and Stack. An array list is an implementation of the List interface in Java and other programming languages, using a dynamic array as its underlying data structure. A linked list is a linear data structure where each element, or node, consists of a data part and a reference part known as a link or pointer to another node.
