RIPv1 (Routing Information Protocol version 1) and RIPv2 have several differences. RIPv2 uses a larger maximum hop count (15 instead of 15), supports VLSM (Variable Length Subnet Masking), and includes an authentication mechanism, whereas RIPv1 does not.
