They are simple and cost-effective, making them suitable for small to medium-sized applications. DCS, on the other hand, has a distributed architecture with multiple intelligent controllers connected through a communication network. DCS is more complex, flexible, and expensive, making it suitable for large-scale, critical process control applications.
