Programming a microcontroller involves writing code in a high-level programming language like C or Assembly, and then converting it into machine code (hexadecimal) that can be uploaded to the microcontroller. This process is known as compiling or assembling. After connecting the microcontroller to a computer via a programmer or USB interface, the software (IDE) for the specific microcontroller is used to load and verify the program, before uploading it to the microcontroller.
