The advantages of a current commutated chopper include:
1. High power factor operation due to the use of capacitors in the circuit, which allows for improved efficiency and reduced heating.
2. Flexibility in controlling output voltage and current by varying the on-time and off-time of the thyristors.
3. Simplified control circuitry compared to voltage commutated choppers as it does not require a secondary winding or transformer for voltage sensing.
4. Ability to handle higher currents and voltages due to the use of large capacitors in the circuit.
