Active filters are preferred over passive filters because they offer a higher degree of flexibility in terms of frequency response and gain. Active filters use amplifiers and feedback networks to shape the frequency response, allowing for more complex filter designs and greater control over the filter characteristics. Additionally, active filters can be easily reconfigured by changing the values of the components or by adjusting the gain of the amplifier.
