Splunk architecture consists of four main components: 1. Forwarders: Data collectors that send data to the indexers. 2. Indexers: Servers that receive, process, and store data. 3. Heavy forwarders: More powerful forwarders designed for heavy-duty data collection tasks. 4. Search Head: Provides search functionality and user interface for Splunk Enterprise. Data flows through stages as follows: Forwarders -> Indexers -> Search Head.
