Yarn twist refers to the degree of twisting applied during the spinning process. Twist affects the characteristics of a yarn, such as its softness, strength, and texture. There are two main types of yarn twist:
1. S-twist (Singles) - The fibers are twisted in a clockwise direction when viewed along the length of the yarn. This results in a relatively hard, strong yarn that is suitable for knitting or weaving heavy fabrics.
2. Z-twist (Woolen) - The fibers are twisted counterclockwise when viewed along the length of the yarn. Woolen yarns are softer and lofty due to their greater crimp, making them suitable for knitwear and lightweight fabrics.
