Explain basic weaves with the help of illustration?

Answer Posted / Prabhat Kumar Tiwari

There are two primary weaves in textile engineering: Plain weave and Twill weave. nnIn a plain weave, each warp thread (vertical) alternates over and under every fill thread (horizontal). This results in a square pattern as shown below:nn![Plain Weave](data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAA8AAAACAYAAABWm3fAAAAC1BMVEUAAAD....)nnIn a twill weave, the warp threads form diagonal lines, either as a series of ridges (warp-faced) or valleys (fill-faced). A common example is the herringbone pattern shown below:nn![Herringbone Twill](data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAA8AAAACAYAAABWm3fAAAAC1BMVEUAAAD....)
