Fast Start and Slow Start are congestion control algorithms used in TCP (Transmission Control Protocol). Fast Start allows the sender to quickly send as many segments as possible within the available window size, while Slow Start gradually increases the congestion window to avoid network congestion. The difference lies in the speed at which data is transmitted: Fast Start is faster but riskier, and Slow Start is slower but safer.
