Stopping an Amazon EC2 instance temporarily can help reduce costs when the instance is not in use. It saves you from paying for the full hour, but the instance state remains saved and can be restarted later. Starting an instance brings it up to a running state, allowing you to access and use your applications. Terminating an instance permanently deletes the instance, terminates all associated services, and removes the instance from Amazon EC2. This should be done when the instance is no longer needed.
