Modifying existing base tables in Siebel CRM is generally discouraged because it can lead to complications during upgrades and customizations. If changes are made directly to base tables, they may be overwritten during an upgrade, causing data loss or system instability. Instead, extensions such as Business Components and Application Composer should be used for customization.
