What are the data units at different layers of the TCP / IP protocol suite
Answer Posted / Anupam Kashyap
In the TCP/IP protocol suite, data is encapsulated into various packets as it moves from the source to the destination. At the Application layer, the data unit is known as a message. At the Transport layer (TCP and UDP), the data units are segments or datagrams. At the Internet layer (IP), the data unit is a packet or datagram. At the Network Interface layer (Data Link layer), the data unit is a frame. And at the Physical layer, the data unit is a bit stream.
