ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) uses small, fixed-length cells to facilitate efficient resource allocation, minimize latency, and ensure rapid switching. By using a standardized cell size of 53 bytes (including a 5-byte header), ATM can easily allocate network resources on a per-cell basis, providing high throughput, low delay, and improved quality of service.
