Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) can use either Artificial Neurons or Vector Quantizers for processing data. Artificial Neurons are mathematical models that mimic the structure and function of biological neurons, while Vector Quantizers assign a codebook vector to each input pattern based on the nearest-neighbor principle. In ANNs, artificial neurons are typically used for learning and processing nonlinear relationships in complex data, while Vector Quantization is often used for lossless data compression applications.
