How do you estimate the fuel /diesel consumption for 125KVA DG
Set?
Answer Posted / Amit Kumar Srivastav
Estimating fuel consumption for a 125KVA Diesel Generator Set involves several factors such as the load factor, efficiency of the generator, and fuel type. However, it's important to note that each manufacturer may provide specific consumption rates based on their product's design. Here is a general approach:
1. Determine the operating load percentage (load factor). This can vary depending on the application but is typically around 50%.
2. Obtain the fuel consumption rate per kW at full load from the generator's specifications. For a 125KVA generator, this value would be given in liters/hour per kW (LPH/kW) at full load.
3. Calculate the generator's total fuel consumption at full load by multiplying the power rating by the consumption rate and then multiplying by the load factor: Consumption_at_full_load = 125 * Consumption_rate * Load_factor (in liters/hour)
4. If you know the expected average load, calculate the fuel consumption at that load by adjusting the load factor accordingly.
