The Frantic Effect refers to a phenomenon that occurs in electrical machines, specifically AC induction motors. When the speed of an induction motor is reduced below its synchronous speed (slip greater than 1), the torque produced increases drastically until the motor stalls or disintegrates. This effect can cause serious damage to the motor.
