The line-to-line voltage (VLL) and line-to-neutral voltage (VLN) in a three-phase system are related to the number of turns on each winding of the transformer. The line-turns ratio (LTR) is defined as the ratio of the number of turns on one phase winding to the number of turns on another phase winding.nnFor example, if a transformer has a delta-connected primary and star-connected secondary, the LTR for phases A-B, B-C, and C-A will be 1:sqrt(3) (or approximately 1:1.732). This is because the line-to-line voltage across any two phases in a star connection is equal to the phase voltage multiplied by sqrt(3), while the line-to-line voltage across any two phases in a delta connection is equal to three times the phase voltage.nnIf the connections of the transformer are changed, the LTR will also change. For instance, if the primary winding is connected as a star and the secondary winding as a delta, the LTR for phases A-B, B-C, and C-A will be 3:1.
