Transformer differential refers to a protective relaying scheme used in power systems to detect and isolate faults caused by single-phase or phase-to-ground issues. The transformer differential works by comparing the current flowing into and out of each winding of a transformer and generates an alarm when there is a difference between them, indicating a potential fault.
