Core type current transformer (CT) is a type of current transformer used in power systems. It consists of a laminated iron core with a primary winding surrounding the conductor being monitored, and a secondary winding that provides an output proportional to the primary current. The function of a core CT is to measure and isolate high currents for protection purposes or metering applications.
