Rated and Per Unit are two different terms used in the context of Transformers. Rated value refers to the maximum current or voltage that a transformer can handle continuously without overheating, which is specified by the manufacturer.nPer Unit (PU) is a dimensionless quantity used for comparison purposes among different transformers of varying ratings. It is based on the rated voltage and kilovolt-ampere (kVA) of the transformer.
