The Ward Leonard Speed Control system is a DC motor speed control system consisting of a controller, an AC power source, a step-down transformer (rectifier), DC motor, and a controller (usually a rheostat or thyristor). The circuit diagram typically includes the above components connected in series. In this experiment, you would observe how changing the resistance in the control circuit affects the speed of the DC shunt motor.
