the avg piston speed of an internal combution engine
increases as cylinder dimension decreases justify?
Answer Posted / Sunder Lal
The average piston speed in an internal combustion engine can increase as the cylinder dimension (bore) decreases due to the following reasons:
1. Reduced mass: Smaller bore means less piston mass, which reduces the momentum and inertia, allowing the piston to accelerate faster.
2. Shorter stroke: A smaller bore may lead to a shorter stroke, reducing the time it takes for the piston to travel from TDC (top dead center) to BDC (bottom dead center), thus increasing the average speed.
