Why is the use of granular sub-base in concrete carriageways not preferred, explain?

Granular sub-bases are not preferred in concrete carriageways due to their poor stability under load and susceptibility to rutting. The particles in a granular sub-base can deform under the weight of traffic, leading to unevenness and reduced pavement life. In contrast, well-compacted aggregates or asphalt layers provide better support and durability for concrete pavements.
