1) a)to prepare mortar for bricklaying how much amount of
water should be added for its maximum strength and
workability(to avoid cracks which results, when
high quantity of water is added)?is their a formula or ratio?
b) suppose we want to make 1:3 mortar, what is the best
way to measure cement ,sand and water and how?
c)time before which freshly prepared mortar should be used?

1) For 1:3 mortar (1 part cement : 3 parts sand), the recommended water-cement ratio is about 0.4 to 0.5 by volume. This ensures adequate workability without compromising strength.nn2) To make 1:3 mortar, you would need:n - Cement: 1 part by volume or weightn - Sand: 3 parts by volume (preferably fine sand for better bonding)n - Water: About 0.4 to 0.5 parts by volumenn3) Freshly prepared mortar should be used within 60-90 minutes for optimal workability and strength.nn4) Proper mixing of mortar involves:n - Combining cement and sand thoroughlyn - Slowly adding water while mixing, ensuring there are no dry spotsnn5) Curing should start immediately after laying bricks and continue for at least 7 days. Ideally, the mortar should be kept moist during this period, which can be done by spraying water or covering it with damp burlap.n - During this period, the mortar should not be exposed to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.nn6) A shear wall is a structural wall that resists lateral forces (like wind or earthquakes) primarily through shear resistance rather than flexural strength. In simpler terms, it's a wall designed to withstand sideways pressure.nn7) The maximum number of courses (layers of bricks) that can be laid in a day depends on various factors like the skill of the mason, weather conditions, and the type of mortar used. However, as a general rule, it's advisable not to exceed 3-4 courses per day for best results.
