Yes, according to Indian Standard (IS) 432-2017 for Reinforcing Bars, the transverse ribs on deformed bars should be uniform in distance. The uniformity of rib spacing is essential for proper compaction of concrete around the reinforcing bars and ensuring effective bond between the steel and concrete. Non-uniform spacing may result in weak areas in the concrete cover that could compromise the overall structural integrity.
