When the data file required for testing is not available locally, you can either download it automatically as part of your test script or access it remotely using networking protocols like FTP (File Transfer Protocol) or HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol). To verify the data file content, you can read it line by line and compare it with expected values, or use built-in QTP functions like File.ReadAllLines() for easy data handling.
