what is the differance between Horizental and vertical heat
exchanger?
Answer Posted / vishwarup sane
1. As the tubes are smooth, the condensation occurs on the surface of tubes, which makes the film over the surface of tubes leads to increase in thickness, as the thickness increases it's acts as a insulation and lower the effective heat transfer coefficient.
2. In vertical heat exchangers as we go downward the thickness of the film increases resulting lowers the heat transfer coefficient.
3. In horizontal heat exchanger the formation of film on the surface of tubes is there but the not as that much of vertical heat exchanger, so the heat transfer coefficient is higher in horizontal type heat exchanger than vertical type heat exchanger.
