In T beam design, which are the regions selected as rectangular and Flanged ?
Answer Posted / mustafa mohammed layeak
1. Midspan of beam is considered as T section for calculating tensile reinforcement at bottom. Here compressive force carried by concrete at top of the section includes effective flanges. 2. For calculating tensile reinf't at top (at supports) for hogging moment the section is considered rectangular. Here compressive force carried by concrete at bottom of the section is simply rectangular. In simple words, Midspan section is considered flanged and End/near supports section is considered rectangular.
