What is OLTC AND RTCC and it's function?
Answer Posted / prakash
1.OLTC stands for On Load or Off load tap changer. It is generally used in power jobs.In case
of Off load tap changer we must have shut down the transformer to change the tap
position but in case of On load tap changer we does not need to shut down the
transformer we change the tap position in running status of a transformer .
2.In case of on load tap changer a resistance is used to hold the current when we change
the tap position in running status of transformer for a short duration of time when tap is
change from one position to another if we not use the resistance the current is flow
back & coil is burnt.
RTCC stands for Remote tap changer controller .It consists of various switch i.e voltage up & down button ,tap changer button etc . It is connected to the transformer via OLTC and generally kept inside the substation for controlling the transformer and also all the important alarms are fit in it .so, we carefully look after the transformer by the help of it at a distance from the transformer
