Difference between Hybrid and derived models???

Answer Posted / nithin

4.Hybrid Model :

Hybrid model can be defined as the combination of two Models.

We can implement the combinations such as (prototype model with V -model) / (Prototype model with spiral model) in the Hybrid Model

When the given requirements are not clear and if they are given part by part we can combine (Prototype model with spiral mode).

When the given requirements are not clear and if get long term projects we can combine (prototype model with V -model).

For example let us consider the combination of Prototype with spiral model.

Procedure :

First we will collect the requirements of one Module.

Develop a prototype.

Test the prototype.

Customer review.

Customer approval

Then design of that prototype for that module.

After design, coding and then testing.

Deploy to the customer.

This process continues for all the modules present in the application.

Prototype model :

It is a dummy application which is functionally not stable.

Main purpose of this model is to get the clarity of the requirement document.

It helps to improve the communication between the client and the developers so the that the end result will be most satisfying.

The client will actually get a feel about how the the software is being developed.

Advantages :

There will be a better clarity in the requirements.

Combination of the Prototype model with other models will reduces the expenses spent on the re-work.

Reasons For Drawbacks :

Delay will be more.

Investments are required to develop the prototype model.

I know functional test cases are derived from frs and system design specs. But are test cases for performance, database, boundary, relational integrity and other types of tests other than functional tests created from frs and system design specs as well? When are these test cases created? Are they in the same test plans alongside functional test cases or is their a different test plan that includes these test cases?
