Answer 96 - (a) 17. (b) Lowest stretching frequency : H-At. Highest stretching frequency : H-F. Reasons : F has the lowest proton number 9 and At has the highest proton number 85. For the compound of H-X, the stretching frequency of the bond decreases when the mass of X increases and vice versa.
