what is automatic voltage regulator and it is used?
Answer Posted / basavaraj pujari
AVR is automatic voltage regulator which controls the terminal o/p voltage of the generator or alternator by controlling it's excitation current.morever avr responds this function within 1cycle and it control by 2modes manual mode and automatic mode.even avr used in transformer as a tap changer which fully control over the terminal voltage of transformer...

My question is whether bellow formula is correct to find bus size for 46kA for 0.5 second & what is RT in bellow formula. formula to calculate the size of busbar to withstand the thermal stresses due to currents with duration of 0.2 sec to 5 sec. Sp = RT( I x I x t) / K Where Sp – is the cross sectional area of bus bar in millimeters. I - is the value of AC fault current. t - is the operating time of disconnecting device in seconds. K – is the factor depending on the material of the conductor, insulation and initial and final temperature. Value of ‘k’ for copper is 143.

What is the maximum operating temperature for a thermoplastic insulated cable?
how does the terminal voltage of transmission lines increase when a capacitor is connected???? This happens not only in transmission lines but also in all circuits. How??? When a capacitor is connected in a transmission line, capacitor also takes energy from the same supply. But how is it able to increase the terminal voltage??? Practically What sequence of events happen during increase in voltage???
