It is a traditional method. This model was first Process Model to be introduced. It is also referred to as a linear-sequential life cycle model. Once a phase of development is completed, the development proceeds to the next phase and there is no turning back like water does not return back when it falls from high level. It has been widely used for software projects ever since.
