HIRA- Hazard Identification & Risk Analysis.
HAZOP-Hazard & Operability study.
The main difference lies in the name itself. HIRA represents a collective term which comprises of all the different activities involved in identifying hazards & evaluating risks at facilities to make certain that the risks to employees, equipments , public & environment are within the organization risk tolerance limit. Generally it consists of 3 main questions: Hazard, Consequences & Likelihood.
While HAZOP is a part of HIRA. It consists of what if analysis, check lists & failure mode & effective analysis.
