It is of great importance in telecommunication.in earlier days,we use signals without modulating and that signal reaches only some specific distance and the problem gets created.
To overcome this problem a simple weak signal is carried on another wave known as carrier wave which helps it to reach at large distances.
Thus modulation is necessary.
